Simply put, OPKIX Co-Founder and VP Business Development Mugs McGuinness embodies the spirit of goodwill.
There aren’t enough stories like his. The Orange County native went from shredding the slopes as a professional snowboarder to launching the FC Cancer Foundation with his late cousin Brandon in 2004. Initially, the charity gave Brandon—diagnosed with terminal cancer—the opportunity to help others that he met in chemotherapy, through events, and beyond. Upon Brandon’s passing, Mugs picked up the mantle and devoted his entire life to not only honoring his cousin’s memory but transforming the FC Cancer Foundation into a powerful and positive force in the lives of thousands afflicted by cancer.
By hitting the road on tour, Mugs fostered alliances between FC Cancer and some of the most recognizable stars in the world. He’s introduced terminal patients to everyone from Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, and Ozzy Osbourne to Metallica, Kiss, and Slipknot.
“Every day is amazing in its own way,” he says. “I get to do something that means so much to me and the people we’re helping. I’ve always believed you’re either working to live or living to work. For me, it’s definitely the latter.”
During 2016, OPKIX Co-Founder Shahin Amirpour approached Mugs with the initial vision for the camera. Mugs immediately extended a helping hand, joining the team and linking the company with stars throughout the worlds of music and sports.
He brings a lot of heart to everything he does, including OPKIX!
